El equipo de desarrollo de WinAmp liberaró una nueva versión de WinAmp, la 5.09. A destacar el soporte para la mayor parte de los formatos de audio (MP3, OGG, AAC, WAV, MOD, XM, S3M, IT, MIDI, etc) y video (AVI, ASF, MPEG, NSV). Su apariencia puede ser alterada mediante pieles, soportando tanto skins para Winamp 1.x/2.x y pieles para Winamp 3.
